Air Asia ordered 10 Extra Luxury Airbus 350-900 Jets

The Airbus A350 is a long range, mid-sized, wide-body family of airliners currently under development by European manufacturing group Airbus.

According to European air plane making company, Air Asia (Kuala Lumpur) has ordered 10 top of the line, Airbus 350-900 Jets. This is approximately $2,4 Billion dollars spent on luxurious airplanes at the times of economic struggle.

The deal was signed by Airbus’s CEO Tom Enders and Air Asia’s CEO Tony Fernandes at Paris Air Show. Air Asia is still thinking of getting 5 to 10 more airplanes.

The A350 will be the first Airbus with fuselage and wing structures made primarily of carbon fiber reinforced plastic. The A350 is designed to compete with the Boeing 777 and the Boeing 787 and Airbus claims that it will be more fuel-efficient and with up to 8% lower operating cost than the Boeing 787. It is scheduled to enter into airline service in 2013.
