
According to a new announcement at WWDC. GPS navigation devices manufacturer TomTom has teamed with Apple to bring a new turn-by-turn navigation app for owners of GPS-enabled iPhones (iPhone 3G and 3GS models). Approximate cost is around $70 USD and it will be available via the apple app store.

Over a hundred years ago, in the 1890s, the Michelin brothers were the first to use air-filled tires on a racecar. Almost 60 years ago, the company introduced the radial tire. The Tweel (a combination of tire and wheel) is a rethinking of the automobile tire by Michelin that rides on rubber permanently attached to flexible spokes fused with a flexible wheel that deforms to absorb shock. Checking tire pressure, fixing flats, highway blowouts and balancing between traction and comfort could all fade into memory if the Tweel catches on.

Believe it or not, shoes can be a luxury item in poor countries. But we humans are resourceful creatures, so we rarely let lack of money stand in our way. Case and point, these guys in poor African and South-American countries use old tires to make their own slippers. Sure they may not make to a fashion presentation in Milan, but I’m sure they’re a lot more durable than what we buy from the shop. Now thats a way of recycling.
